Returning to the main road I walked down hill to the Tsurugaoka-Hachimangu shrine which sits on the hill at the top of the main shopping street of Kamakura “Wakamiya-oji avenue” which runs all the way to the ocean.

After walking down Wakamiya-oji avenue to the ocean I walked along the beach before walking up the hill to the Kotoku-ji temple. A number of interesting warnings are posted on the beach including warnings about tsunami's but the most interesting was advising people to watch out for hawks stealing their food.

The Kotoku-ji temple is where the “Great budda” sits. Built 800 years ago the statue is 25 metres high and draws a huge number of people all throughout the year.
